Materials design of layered compounds and spin hybrids

We design, grow and sculpture various layered materials including graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides and halides, and couple them to magnetic molecules.

We fabricate almost all possible van der Waals compounds in our lab with the CVD technique. Also, we use various strategies to sculpt the ultrathin crystals.

We can reach the desired topography using a transfer over a decorated substrate.  Such architectures are suited to spatially resolved chemical funcitonalization, single-photon emission, nanoscake reactors, etc.

We also apply liquid-assisted “origamization” to create 3D architectures.

We deposit transition metal complexes to create mixed-spin layered compounds.

We also produce isotopically pure and mixed van der Waals materials to explore chemical reactivity as well as the phonon-driven phenomena.
